365 and one of those days

I decided to try a 365 project this year (take one photo each day).  So far so good, except that the last time I uploaded my photos (the first four) I 'lost' them (and all my drives are now different letters???).  So it's more of a 360 project.  #5 is here.

Today's been one of those days that Kheri needs a bit more attention.  She must be fighting off some kind of bug (evidence in her extraordinary poos).  It's exhausting, but I'm grateful for some extra cuddle time.  The big kid (my husband) is sick too but he seems to be taking care of himself ok.  We were playing by our sliding glass doors that go out onto the screened-in-porch.  The tricycle out there (kindly given to us by a friend) made me wistful for spring and a time when Kheri might walk and go for rides in the alley.

I think that was a long enough break.  And I took an extra couple of days this week to handle some things that I was procrastinating about.

We had an extra sweet holiday and New Year.  How about you?

Kheri's room

I have my parents to thank for taking the trip to Ikea with me, my dad for putting together 3 bookcases and hanging the shades and Annisia for coming in March to have tea and help me put the room together.  Carl was working 80 hour weeks leading up to Kheri's arrival...tax season...so I was on my own!  There are still quite a few things I need to do, such as hang more pictures, but rather than have the room completely 'finished' when she arrived I decided to let it evolve.  So like everything else that I do around here, it is a work in progress.

We were lucky to have been given the crib and changing table by Carl's parents.  (Otherwise I probably would have headed to Walmart.)  They are usually the big ticket items in a baby's room.  We debated on getting a glider but I just couldn't spend the money on something that I didn't really like in the first place and I don't regret it.  Honestly, the first several weeks I breast fed in the old La-Z-Boy chair in our living room, on the couch or in our bedroom in a big armchair.  The most expensive items we purchased were the Ikea Expedit bookcases.  As long as you don't get swept up into the frenzy that has become 'setting up the baby's room' I don't think you have to spend a lot of money.

hello friends - meet my new assistant

Since my last post back in October (I can't believe that much time has passed!) we welcomed this sweet little creature into our lives.  Kherington Paige was born right on time on April 15th at 12:06 AM.  Apparently we were the talk of the hospital that day...the baby born to the accountant on Tax Day.

Although I am doing a little bit of work here and there, luckily most of my days I just hang out with this chick.  She's pretty good company.  I've missed blogging though and I am gearing up to officially open my own design business, so here I am, back to 'work'.  With a mini assistant in tow.

Originally I thought I'd relaunch the whole blog/website, but instead you'll see small changes happen over time and I hope you like them.
